Standing Boldly Like Stephen: A Reflection on Faith, Courage, and Truth
Today I found myself deeply moved as I reflected on the first reading from Acts 6–7 — the account of Stephen, the first Christian martyr.

When we study the life of Jesus, we learn how to live. But when we study the death of Jesus, we learn something equally important: how to die in faith. Pastor Ron Stelzer’s Good Friday message walks us through the final words Jesus spoke from the cross — words filled with forgiveness, mercy, love, suffering, victory, and trust. These seven sayings are not random; they are a roadmap for every believer preparing for life’s final chapter.

Pride, Humility, and the Joy of Learning God’s Way – A reflection on Proverbs 16:18. As Dr. Wil Stelzer of Our Savior New American School shared with the students, Proverbs 16:18 speaks with a clarity that children and adults alike need to hear: “Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.”

When God called Moses to lead Israel out of Egypt, Moses did everything he could to excuse himself from the assignment. He pleaded. He protested. He insisted he was unqualified. But God would not take no for an answer. The Lord promised His presence, equipped Moses with miraculous signs, and sent him—armed with nothing but a shepherd’s rod and accompanied only by his brother Aaron—to confront the most powerful ruler on earth.

In a world full of shifting opinions, theories, and reinterpretations of truth, Scripture gives us a clear and unwavering foundation: Jesus Christ and the Word of God are inseparable. To speak of one is to speak of the other. To diminish one is to diminish the other. And to reject one is to reject the other.

When we celebrate the message of Christmas and the heart of the gospel, we often focus on the beautiful truth that Jesus came to save us, but Scripture makes it clear that He also came to change us—to reshape our lives, our desires, and our direction. This dual purpose is captured powerfully in Titus 2:11–12, a passage that summarizes both the miracle of salvation and the call to transformation.

For generations, the Christian family stood at the center of community life and people knew it was God’s design. Many churches can remember seasons when confirmation classes were full, nurseries were bustling, and Sunday mornings were naturally set apart for worship. But over the decades, something has shifted. Families look different. Priorities look different. And the cultural messages shaping the next generation are louder than ever.

Throughout history, America has experienced moments of spiritual awakening—brief spasms of true revival that remind us of our deep need for God. After the terrorist attacks of 9/11, churches filled with people seeking hope

Dr. Will Stelzer, Principal of Our Savior New American School is launching something new this year: Phony Friday—a weekly reflection on the digital forces shaping our children’s lives, often without us realizing it.

The Bible—Basic Information Before Leaving Earth—is not vague about the origins of God the creator. It doesn’t speculate. It declares. Repeatedly, clearly, and emphatically, God tells us that He created everything that exists. Not through a slow, random process. Not through evolutionary guesswork. But by His Word—instantly, fully formed, and for His glory.

We are not called to be passive observers of history but champions of faith in a time of deception. We are called to be participants in God’s unfolding story—people who seek the LORD and His strength, who stand firm in truth, and who understand the times like the men of Issachar.
